 The Opportunity:

The HR Summer Student is responsible reviewing how organizational core competencies are applied to HR practices and will incorporate these core competencies to programs to increase Human Resources effectiveness. The student will also provide support to the HR and Payroll departments in all key functional as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

In collaboration with the VP, Human Services, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Analyzing organizational core competencies.
  • Evaluating current HR practices, including but not limited to job descriptions, performance evaluations, recruitment practices and performance management program.
  • Based on findings of internal HR practices evaluation, reporting findings to HR team and senior leadership.
  • Improving current practices by aligning HR strategies to organizational core competencies.
  • Developing, as needed, new tools for job descriptions, performance evaluations, recruitment and performance management programs.
  • Working with department leaders to develop job specific competencies for various roles in the organization.

Successful candidates will have:

  • Minimum 2 years of post-secondary Education in Human Resources Management, returning to school in Fall 2018
  • Knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards and Human Rights Legislation is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • World-class customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters
  • May require travel to various sites across Alberta, access to a personal vehicle is preferred
