For Immediate Release

Sherwood Park, September 26, 2014 – The grand opening of their new Strathcona County location is less than a month away and Goodwill Industries of Alberta couldn’t be happier.

Strathcona County residents are invited to come to the official opening on Saturday, October 18. The store will open at 9:00 am and a free barbeque will begin at 11:30 am.

The new location, located at Cornerpoint Centre and 130 Athabascan Avenue, had a temporary donation centre open in August to be able to serve Strathcona County while renovations were underway.

“We cannot thank Strathcona Country residents enough for all their support and patience,” said Dale Monaghan, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Alberta. “We are now able to accept donations inside our new location while the store’s renovations are being completed.”

By opening a retail store in Sherwood Park, donations will be sold in the community and sales proceeds will go towards employment programs for Strathcona residents with disabilities.

“Through our Power of Work program, Goodwill supports people with disabilities to ensure they are equipped and ready to succeed with employment,” said Monaghan. “Our mission and purpose is for Sherwood Park and Strathcona County residents with disabilities to gain independence and have an opportunity for career development. “

Goodwill Industries of Alberta is a nonprofit enterprise that provides training and meaningful employment opportunities for Albertans with disabilities. Your donations of gently used household goods are sold in to support employment programs for fellow Albertans with disabilities so every time you donate to Goodwill you are helping to make a difference in someone’s life.
