Goodwill expands in Sherwood Park

For Immediate Release

Sherwood Park, August 26, 2014 – To better serve Strathcona County, Goodwill Industries of Alberta is proud to announce their Sherwood Park Donation Centre has moved to a bigger location.

Opening today the new facility, located in Cornerpoint Centre at 130 Athabascan Avenue, has a temporary donation centre while building renovations are underway for the new permanent facility.

“We are thrilled about this expansion; enabling Goodwill to provide more services and opportunities to Sherwood Park and Strathcona County residents,” said Dale Monaghan, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Alberta. “Renovations are not quite complete though we have solved that by providing a temporary facility at the new location.”

The former donation centre, located at 751 Bethel Drive, is now closed. Your generous donations are now being accepted at the new Athabascan Ave. location.

“We apologize for inconveniences donors might experience during this transition period,” said Monaghan. “Our previous location had experienced amazing support from area residents, and we are confident that the community will be patient through this time of change.”

Beyond the donation centre, which commences operation today (August 26), the new, expanded facility will include a retail store, a training centre for persons with disabilities and is scheduled to open in October.

Goodwill Industries of Alberta is a nonprofit enterprise that provides training and meaningful employment opportunities for Albertans with disabilities. Your donations of gently used household goods are sold in our retail stores to support employment programs for fellow Albertans with disabilities so every time you donate to Goodwill you are helping to make a difference in someone’s life.
