The Job:

Are you our next Mission Business Partner - Mission? Reporting to the VP of Mission Impact, we are looking for a collaborative and forward-thinking people leader who will work on strengthening the skills, knowledge and abilities of team members with disabilities working within Goodwill store, donation centres, and warehouses. This is a unique and innovative position which integrates Goodwill’s strengths of providing exceptional team experiences, operating award-winning stores and warehouses, and supporting individuals with disabilities in achieving success in the workplace.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Monitoring, consulting and acting as a liaison to leaders and team members within the workplace, in order to provide for a supportive environment for individuals with disabilities, including adequate levels of support, preventing or resolving workplace issues, and ensuring that the rights of individuals are upheld.
  • Assisting individuals with disabilities in the development of skills, interpreting the work environment, participating in co-worker interactions and building appropriate relationships within the working environment.
  • Providing individualized on-the-job-training support to help the individual learn and develop the skills necessary in order to enhance productivity and maximize scheduled work hours.
  • Collaborating with HR Business Partners and site Managers on the development of effective performance improvement strategies for individuals with disabilities.
  • Develop and deliver training in line with the DEI Roadmap, the Learning and Development Strategy and the Mission of the organization, specifically relating to the employment and accommodation of individuals with disabilities, including the creation of tools and resources.
  • Providing training and skill development to new leaders as required.
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge and research on best practices relating to disability awareness in the workplace and accommodation strategies for individuals with disabilities in the workplace.
  • Working with the People & Culture team to continuously improve Team Management policies and procedures, and practices including but not limited to: recruitment and selection, performance improvement, learning and development.


What you bring to the table:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities and/or barriers to employment.
  • Degree or diploma in Career Development, Disability Services, Human Services, Adult Education, Human Resources, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience working in a Human Resources specialist capacity is considered an asset.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills using Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Prior work in retail industries would be considered an asset.
  • A clear criminal record check, including a vulnerable sector search.
  • A Class 5 license with the ability to travel to various locations across Alberta.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, coaching and team building skills.
  • A high level of emotional intelligence, including resilience, influencing skills, and effective interactions that build strong relationships.
  • You are highly self-motivated.
  • Confident with communicating to different audiences at different levels across the business.
  • Able to build relationships with all stakeholders based on respect, integrity and trust.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize and make decisions.
  • Ability to use a variety of learning/training concepts to enrich participant learning and understanding.
  • You deliver amazing customer service by going above and beyond for all Goodwill customers.
  • You demonstrate teamwork and engage fellow Team Members in contributing to Goodwill’s mission & core purpose.
  • You have an open and honest attitude while making moral decisions.
  • You recognize the great efforts of fellow Team Members through genuine recognition activities.
  • You contribute to a welcoming & accepting work environment by showing respect at all times.
