The OFFICIAL GRAND OPENING of the Amazing Goodwill Calgary Impact Centre!Â
On Tuesday October 24th, at 3 p.m., Goodwill Industries of Alberta is officially celebrating the GRAND OPENING of the amazing Goodwill Calgary Impact Centre!
Six years ago, we began a journey through uncharted territory in terms of Sustainability, as the first Goodwill in Canada to commit to excellence in such an impactful way, focusing on better tomorrows for team members, our community and our planet. This journey began as we boldly committed to the pursuit of a new and larger logistics centre of operations to support our growing social enterprise. This, as many of you know is the Amazing Goodwill Edmonton Impact Centre. This centre of innovation has provided new life for Goodwill, winning awards in multiple areas of Sustainability, both provincially and nationally.
For six years, Calgary has patiently been waiting to bring this centre of innovation home and in April of this year, we opened the doors to the public to experience shopping like never before, where people have a chance to purchase items by the pound, which gives these products new homes, new life and keeps them out of our landfills.
This centre of excellence is home to more than donated goods from the community, as it is a training facility for our mission, a logistics centre for our sustainability initiatives and an educational resource for our community. We will be unveiling and touring you through our facility, including viewing our sustainability initiatives and mission programs introduced to the Calgary region, like our Goodwill @ Work program, where our team (made of up of people with disabilities) upcycle items that would otherwise be discarded into landfills and our Opportunity Accelerator Program, where we focus on skill development, job coaching and workshops with an overall goal of helping someone with a disability become independent.
