The Job:

Are you our next Procurement Specialist? Reporting to the Director of Finance and Controller, we are looking for an individual to lead the strategic procurement of medium to high dollar services, information technology, operational supplies and other assigned portfolio items. Supporting the team in the development and implementation of improved procurement practices, procedures and best practices is a key responsibility. This position will balance between serving the department’s business needs and compliance with best practice policies and legislation. At Goodwill, fairness, integrity, openness and transparency are critical to the work we do in all aspects.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Developing spend policies relating to procurement activities.
  • Leading the systemization of Goodwill’s procurement activities.
  • Maintaining signing authority matrix, approved by Executive and Board.
  • Advancing the development of spend policies relative to our business.
  • Developing criteria with vendors (e.g. mission-related connections, environmental sustainability expectations, etc.).
  • Ensuring appropriate inventory management practices to prevent overspending.
  • Managing and maintaining contract documentation, including renewal processes.
  • Processing purchase orders in accordance with established practices.
  • Leading procurement projects including all relevant Request for Proposals, vendor selection, negotiations and compliance, within a defined process.
  • Managing Corporate credit card program.
  • Maintaining records and files in accordance with established practices.
  • Reporting on purchasing activities.
  • Guiding and assisting business leaders with purchasing functions and best practices.
  • Researching sources of supply for critical items.
  • Managing centralized order processing and distribution.
  • Ordering, receiving and distributing operational supplies as needed.

What you bring to the table:

  • 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in public/not for profit procurement roles, in an organization of similar size, complexity and diversity.
  • University degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Procurement Management or equivalent.
  • Proven knowledge of and experience with procurement principles and best practices.
  • Experience with retail procurement will be considered an asset; experience with IT procurement and other services is required.
  • Purchasing Certificate/Designation from a recognized Institution is required - Supply Chain Management Profession (SCMP) designation through Supply Chain Canada is preferred.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • You deliver amazing customer service by going above and beyond for all Goodwill stakeholders.

  • You have an open and honest attitude while making moral decisions.
