“Just Try and Stop Me” Book Signing at Harley Davidson Edmonton

Author Mackenzie Meyer - Just Try and Stop Me

Meet Mackenzie Meyer. Mackenzie is a young woman with Down syndrome who discovered Goodwill’s employment programs in Sherwood Park, and came to work for our Sherwood Park store and donation centre. In early 2016, Mackenzie graduated from the Power of Work program and transitioned to independent employment!

Mackenzie has written a book about her life with Down syndrome entitled Just Try and Stop Me. In it, she tells the story of her life including adventures, friendships, and the barriers she had experienced. Mackenzie overthrows assumptions and roadblocks and shows the world how nothing can stop her from living her life the way she wants to live it.

On December 4th, thanks to her constant drive to knock down barriers and willingness to share her story, Mackenzie was awarded a Premier’s Council Award of Excellence in Public Awareness. Mackenzie is a hard-working, wonderful young woman intent on creating a barrier-free, inclusive community.

In October, Goodwill had the honor and the pleasure of hosting the official launch of Just Try and Stop Me. This weekend, we are proud to share that excitement with Harley Davidson of Edmonton as they host Mackenzie for an author reading and book signing session.
